New Study Phase
Thank you for making the PG&E Home Energy Use Study a success! Because of all the great information we were able to get, we are launching a new phase with a select group of participants to learn more about how often appliances and other items are used throughout the day and which use the most energy. We will use this new information to provide better services for households in the future.
Incentives!
For the new study phase, we are offering incentives to thank you for your time and effort:
- $250 for the first site visit to install metering equipment.**
- $50 quarterly each time you complete our Internet survey about the equipment in your home.
- $250 for an annual visit to fix any metering equipment that is not working.
**$200 for tenants and $50 for landlords.
Meters
We have a few different types of meters that we’ll be using (shown here):
- Plug in meter. Most of the time we’ll be using a small, simple device that plugs right into your wall or power cord.
- Temperature sensor. We’ll also use a couple of temperature sensors so we can measure the temperature outside of your home, inside your home, and for a few appliances (water heater, furnace).
- Data hub. We’ll also set up a hub that will store the meter data and send it to our secure servers.
